Tip explains how normal users can be granted access to perform recovery of protected client computers in a DPM environment.

In a DPM environment, by default Local Administrators of the protected client computer can perform recovery of protected data on a client computer. In case you wish to allow domain users to perform recovery of protected data, you must modify the below registry entry.

  • Key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Agent\ClientProtection
  • Registry Entry: ClientOwners
  • Registry Type: REG_SZ
  • Registry Value: <Comma separated list of users> For example, TechGenix\User1,TenixGenix\User2 and so on.
